Position Requirements

The Specialist Risk & Control supports the Risk & Control Manager in setting up, developing and managing a Risk & Control organization servicing Alfa-Beta. This organization is part of the Business Services Finance department in Europe, which provides professional and high quality financial services and solutions to our retail brands. The Risk & Control function within Business Services Finance supports and directs the business to be in control and provides insight into control effectiveness, control weaknesses and remediation actions. More specific, R&C provides local management with 2nd line assurance over the ICFR/ITGC framework in the three lines of defense controls structure of Ahold Delhaize.

Core accountabilities:

  • Risk Management
    • Assist the R&C Manager in the scoping analysis on risks and control objectives
    • Identify relevant risks and control objectives and determine whether there are gaps in the internal control framework, assisting the business to retain a fit-for-purpose controls’ framework
    • Advice and support business in designing / implementing controls to remediate any gaps identified either by R&C or internal / external audit
    • Ensure all controls required by global policies are implemented in the country and are operating effectively
    • Support the automation of controls
    • Build a solid knowledge of retail processes from a risk and control perspective
    • Partner with business owners for the design and effective implementation of ESG KPI controls
    • Support risk awareness and control mindset at all levels in the company
    • Under supervision of the R&C Manager support and challenges local management in risk management and performs risk assessments on specific projects
    • Support External and Internal Audit throughout the execution of audit plans
  • Assurance on the Controls’ operating effectiveness
    • Provide assurance on the effectiveness of the Internal Control framework for the related operating company
    • Discuss control findings with management and suggest/agree on remediation
    • Support business owners in performing impact assessments for control deficiencies
    • Assist R&C Manager in facilitating the review and discussion of controls and control weaknesses with External /Internal auditor
  • Build and Maintain relationship
    • Build and maintain a network of internal and external stakeholders and partners
    • Develop and maintain effective relationship with business, discuss control issues and related remediation with business
    • Challenge and advise management in mitigation of issues
    • Regular and effective reporting from and communication with the R&C Manager on status and outcome of the activities

 

Candidate Profile

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • Master’s degree in Auditing, Finance or MBA would be considered an asset
  • Work experience of 5+ years in one or more subjects: external auditing/internal auditing, risk management
  • Experience in Retail Business (preferred)
  • Professional certification in auditing – accounting completed or close to completion
  • Basic SAP understanding
  • A performance-driven individual, with a strong sense of urgency, exceptional organizational credibility, and deep understanding of the business
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering projects
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Strong business acumen with emphasis on analytical and conceptual thinking
  • Demonstrated ability in relevant soft skills including change management, continuous improvement, conflict resolution and consensus building
  • Effective ways of working, interaction and connectivity and ensuring delivery through systems, processes and people
  • Participate in business/cross functional team – Combining the collective efforts of individuals within different teams and with different objectives and priorities to create organizational value
