Among the various industries we recruit for, we are exclusively retained to find a Commercial Director on behalf of a client in the FMCG industry. 

About the Role

The Commercial Director will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive commercial strategies to maximize sales, profitability, and market share. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with a deep understanding of the food industry, strong business acumen, and exceptional leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sales and marketing plans to achieve revenue and profit targets.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing commercial team, including sales, marketing, and business development professionals
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and distribution channels to expand market reach and increase sales
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Collaborate with product development and innovation teams to bring new products to market and meet customer demand
  • Monitor and evaluate sales performance metrics, market share, and profitability, and develop strategies to optimize performance
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging trends to inform strategic decision-making

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field; MBA preferred
  • Proven track record of success in commercial leadership roles within the food production industry
  • Strong understanding of sales, marketing, and business development principles and practices
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and initiatives
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions
