Kariera.gr | Hiring Solutions team is looking for a Health & Safety Engineer on behalf of a client - a global leader in paper-based packaging solutions.
Purpose
The role of the Health & Safety Engineer (HSE) includes ensuring the company’s departments adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) legal standards and fostering a safe work environment for every employee. The HSE is tasked with putting in place, overseeing, and refining the company’s health and safety policies and initiatives to reduce accidents and injuries at work. Working together with various departments, the Health & Safety Engineer will encourage a commitment to safety and well-being throughout the organization.
The HSE reports directly to the GM GRCHA and has a secondary reporting dotted line to the HSM CSEE. The HSE also works in cooperation with other HSCs within the CSEE region.
Main tasks / responsibilities:
Policy Implementation and Compliance
Ensures the organization complies with relevant HSE regulations
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of legislation and ensure the company’s policies and procedures are in accordance
Develops, implements, and updates HSE policies and procedures
2. Planning, Improvements and Reporting
Conducts risk assessments and job safety analyses to identify potential hazards
Recommends and implement safety improvements and innovations
Reports HSE indicators
Conducts regular safety inspections and audits of the plant to identify and address potential hazards
Uses such as risk assessment, 8D, FMEA etc. to improve the level of HSE
Processes statistical reports - waste, environment, air
Prepares documents for sustainability report
Prepares and executes the HSE action plans and HSE programs
3. Training and Education:
Organizes and conduct regular HSE trainings for employees, including induction training for new hires
Cooperates in providing employees with protective work equipment.
Promotes safety awareness through workshops, seminars, and regular communication
4. Incident Management:
Investigates accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify causes and implement corrective actions
Maintains accurate records of incidents and reports findings
5. Emergency Preparedness
Develops and coordinate emergency response plans and procedures
Leads emergency drills and ensure all employees are trained in emergency protocols
6. Collaboration and Communication
Works closely with all departments to ensure a comprehensive approach to HSE
Acts as the primary point of contact for HSE matters within the plant
Requirements:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably within a manufacturing environment
University degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or in other related field
Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) is preferred
Fluency in English (and Greek)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and other relevant HSE legislation is advantage
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to occasional traveling to other regional sites
